Dine in the Dark is an unforgettable dining experience that challenges your senses and changes perspectives.
Dark dining has been captivating food lovers since the early 2000s, traditionally held in pitch-black restaurants to heighten taste, smell, and texture. Dine in the Dark with Bradbury Fields takes this concept further, combining exceptional food with a powerful message about sight loss.
Rather than being confined to a single dark restaurant, our events are hosted in some of Liverpool’s best venues, including BOXPARK, using blindfolds to create a shared sensory experience. This approach allows restaurants to deliver their usual high-quality service while giving diners a glimpse into life without sight.
Expect an evening of delicious food, heightened senses, and meaningful conversation — all while supporting people living with sight loss.
Dine in the Dark isn’t just about food. It’s about understanding, empathy, and inclusion.
Empathy through experience
Dining without sight temporarily removes one of our key senses, offering insight into the everyday experiences of people living with visual impairment. It encourages empathy and sparks important conversations about independence, confidence, and accessibility.
Engaging the senses beyond sight
Without vision, diners rely on taste, smell, touch, and sound. This highlights how adaptable humans are and reflects the resilience and creativity many blind and partially sighted people use every day.
Creating meaningful conversations
The experience naturally leads to discussions around sight loss, inclusion, and accessibility. Many guests leave with a deeper understanding and a desire to advocate for better awareness and support.
Dine in the Dark is fun, thought-provoking, and impactful — an experience that stays with you long after the final course.
“It was an education into a visually impaired world in a fun and accessible format. How often do you hear the sentence ‘I’m having trouble finding it’ at the dinner table!”
– Andrea Taylor
