CBI / Bradbury Fields proposed merger
The Catholic Blind Institute (CBI) and Bradbury Fields are long established Liverpool based charities, delivering a range of support services encompassing VI services, sensory support, social care, education and health and wellbeing. We have a strong history of partnership working, and both organisations are focused on delivering high quality, innovative services that have been shaped by service users to best meet their individual needs and aspirations. We have jointly always aimed to provide a positive impact and beneficial outcomes for the people and communities we serve.
Over recent years there has been an increased awareness within our charities that there is much common ground in terms of strategic direction and priorities, and a real opportunity for closer working to enable us to grow sustainable services and be stronger together, which would help us continue to focus on and better meet the evolving needs of our service users.
With this in mind both Trustee boards have sanctioned a joint Task and Finish group, which has recommended working towards a formal merger of the two organisations, to become one charity to trade under CBI’s charity number, with a single board of Trustees. The charity name going forward will be reviewed and agreed by that new board.
The desired outcome is for the new combined entity to operate a divisional model which would deliver services under trusted and established names:
- Education Services would operate under the name St Vincent’s School
- Community Services would operate under the name Bradbury Fields
- Residential, Nursing and Care Services would operate under the name Christopher Grange
This will enable a clear management structure, a focus on user-engagement and service delivery, and ensure on-going recognition of established service brands within our communities.
This proposed merger is currently subject to “due-diligence” discussions, and conversations with staff and our communities. It is important to note that this proposal is driven by a vision to provide an innovative and sustainable portfolio of services, driven by the needs of users with a focus on quality of outcomes.
We are very excited by the prospects that such a move would open up, and are eager for your voices to be heard throughout this process as we work together to make a real difference.
Your comments, suggestions and questions are very welcome.
